In the beginning this building was a small pub, a grocery shop and a place to buy animal meal. That was before 1970 when Michael Lynch, the proprietor at the time changed its purpose to solely providing alcohol, music and the best of times.

He also changed the name to the Ceilí House.

During this time the Ceilí House was developed into an Irish Music Centre and then a Cultural Centre for the North midlands, where musicians would travel from all around the Country and the World to be part of the regular music sessions and Ceilís.

Famous musicians such as Sean Maguire, Patsy Cooke, Mike McDougal from Nova Scotia, Jimmy Shand from Scotland, Joe Burke, members of Planxty, Shaskeen and The Dubliners all played here at the Ceilí House with the Lynch Brothers Ceilí Band.

The pub was purchased in 2001 by the O'Reilly Family. Due to Nobby O'Reilly's determination, foresight and a dream the Oldcastle House Hotel was born.

However, with such history some things can never change and the Ceilí House retains every inch of its character and relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Nowadays an extensive food menu is available from 8am and it is the perfect location for a casual breakfast, lunch or evening meal.

The Ceilí House has always been a pub that appeals to people of all ages & at the Weekend the Party starts here. A lively, fun place to be where a good pint, good music and great craic are the order of the day, where the unexpected happens, we love it & so will you.
